Being Uber Available on Twitter
By David Onigman
Last week I arranged for members of the DAG team to take an Uber vehicle to the airport, taking advantage of the San Francisco startup’s flat rates to and from SFO International Airport. As a result I can tell you Uber lives up to its word of being, “Everyone’s Private Driver. Hit a button on your phone and within minutes a luxury black car is on its way in SF and Palo Alto.”
When our vice president Jake Ward received a text message that the car had arrived at DAG SF and stepped outside to see a black town car waiting for him mere minutes after requesting a ride he simply stated, “That is so cool.”
But that is not what impressed me over the weekend. I had easily sent a couple of people to the airport – but I wasn’t positive how to best coordinate pickup for an arrival at SFO. Sunday afternoon I pinged @Uber_SF on Twitter to ask for some clarification. Within two minutes I received a reply that I could see from the tweet was sent from an iPhone.
That is dedication by a startup: being available to go the extra mile and making sure potential recurring customers know exactly how its product or service works. And so an Uber Brand Activist was born. As a new Brand Activist, I hope the price elasticity test they are running will result in a larger volume of rides so they can provide lower rates.
